Yelawolf Becomes "Johnny Cash" In His Latest Visuals

By Maria-Karmina Landicho

Interscope Records rebel with a cause, Yelawolf becomes Johnny Cash in his latest video release.

Johnny Cash” is a track uprooted from his recent project titled, “Love Story” — and if you are just a Hip Hop head, sitting there wondering who the heck Johnny Cash is, let me educate you one time.

Johnny Cash is considered to be one of the most widely influential musicians of the 20th century; as a singer, song-writer, guitarist — his Country, Rock & Roll, Blues and Gospel sound is still influencing artists to-date. He was also known for always wearing black after his phenomenally dark track titled, “The Man in Black” and his lyrics stated:

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down / Livin’ in the hopeless, hungry side of town / I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime / But is there because he’s a victim of the times

Johnny Cash was an activist for minorities, just as Hip Hop artists are today. Yelawolf himself, has caught wind of it in his latest video, as is it shot in black and white. In addition, he has also decided to take on the distinctive Country sound of the late great, Johnny Cash — carrying a guitar around with him throughout the video. Watch the visuals below:
