With JAY-Z’s new opus, 4:44 sitting on top off the charts once again, today Hov is back with something new. This time around JAY-Z unveils the footnotes for his track “Kill Jay-Z.” The clip finds JAY-Z opening up about the song’s theme with a collective of celebrities ranging from Kendrick Lamar to Chris Rock. Along the way, Jay speaks about killing off the JAY-Z moniker in order to get to the truth.

Jay states: “It’s really about the ego. It’s about killing off the ego, so you can have this conversation in a place of vulnerability and honesty.” He goes on to add that “JAY-Z, the public persona, couldn’t have this conversation. He has to be eliminated. It’s really Shawn Carter speaking to JAY-Z and he has to convince him to move aside.” We also here thoughts from Trevor Noah, Roc Nation’s Van Jones, Chris Rock, Anthony Anderson and Mahershala Ali.
