Canadian native Tamia has been in the game making one of a kind R&B for quite a few years now. The Quincy Jones protege sat down with us on the eve of the release of “Love Life,” her most recent album which was distributed under Def Jam.
We hear how Tamia came to an agreement with Def Jam for her newly found joint partnership after releasing her last two projects through her own independent label. Comparing the experience to having a rich uncle, Tamia jokes that it is all love between her and Def Jam as she was still able to run things the way she pleased.
In the studio with Rich Nice of The A&R Room we are reminded that Tamia was the first artist that Quincy Jones worked with after his success with Michael Jackson. Signed at the age of 17, Tamia outlines how the two were introduced as she sings her first single, “You Put A Move On My Heart,” live in studio.
Married to former NBA great Grant Hill, Sway inquires about how the couple first met as Tamia reveals that they were introduced by Anita Baker. Tamia tells us of their first date while also filling us in on “Love Life” and why having such great support allows her to make quality music. You can check out the full interview below.
