Topping off one of the most exciting label rosters in modern music at Fools Gold Records, Rome Fortune‘s debut album “Jarome Raheem Fortune” hits stores this Friday, February 26.
Grinding away in Atlanta for the past 8 years, Fortune has laid the foundation from recording in a studio where he slept on an air mattress to attracting the likes of A-Trak. Deeply rooted in jazz music, Fortune’s father, Sonny Fortune, played alongside famed musician Miles Davis. Lineage of his jazz roots can be traced to his “Beautiful Pimp 2” project where his grandfather had his hand on production.
While Rome Fortune’s blue beard has been seen all over the world, the story behind its inception is one you would have never guessed. Elaborating on its origin, Fortune reveals that a night with a witch on the grounds of the Woodstock estate lead to the dye coming out.
Serving a brief jail sentence a while back after turning himself in for a probation issue, Fortune discusses the love that was shown to him by fans. From this experience an app was created by Fortune and his team to let fans send messages that get send straight to Fortune’s phone.
Ending things by expressing his wishes to collaborate with Elton John and Stevie Wonder, Fortune spits a quick freestyle before exiting the building.
