The genre of R&B is so often cast off as the little brother of rap music, a distant memory that’s faded away. But that should not be the case in any way, shape or form with the resurrection of D’Angelo last year, up and comers like Jake&Papa and writing legends that have put out music of their own like Rico Love.
At the forefront of this fight to keep R&B alive is MTV News’ own Rob Markman, Sway’s Universe regulars should be well aware of Markman’s work with his contributions to SU in the form of The Rob Report. At Markman’s helm is Kristin Coral, the two have joined forces to start an honest conversation on the state of R&B music, enter “The Red Light Special.”
Following up their first installment with special guest Mack Wilds that hit the web just one short week ago, Markman and Coral are back with another important member of the R&B community, Rico Love, for their second podcast episode.
Responsible for penning hits by Usher, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Pleasure P and many more, Rico Love has just released an album of his own titled “Turn the Lights On.” Love, Markman and Coral sit down for an intimate conversation about working with Usher, the music making process and so much more. Sit back, relax and let the knowledge and passion of Rico Love, Rob Markman and Kristin Coral take you away.
