At approximately 4 a.m. police responded to a 911 call and found Chinx (born Lionel Pickens) with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso on the corner of Queens Boulevard and 84th Avenue in Queens, New York, an NYPD representative told MTV News this morning. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A second victim, who has only been identified as a 27-year-old male, was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the back. He was also taken to the hospital; he is currently in critical condition.

According to police, the assailants pulled alongside Chinx’s vehicle and let off several shots. It is unclear whether Chinx was driving.

There have been no arrests made.

Most rap fans know Chinx as a member of French Montana’s Coke Boys crew. He made a name for himself with his Cocaine Riot mixtape series and with singles like 2012’s “I’m a Coke Boy” and 2014’s “Feelings.”

MTV News and SwaysUniverse.com will update this story as it develops.

From Sway:

We want to send our condolences to the family of Chinx. He was always real with me and excited about what was next with his music. We are dying too young as a result of violence. We have to do better.
