It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Once you hear Shaq, Ernie, Charles and Kenny say “NBA on TNT” you know what time it is! The NBA Season is finally back and is already off to a exciting start following the opening day double header between the Warriors vs. Pelicans and Bulls vs. Cavs.
President Obama was even courtside to take in opening night for his beloved Bulls and maybe even more surprising than that Derrick Rose was able to play despite the Orbital Fracture injury. All signs pointed to Chicago beating their Eastern Conference rival in Lebron James and the Cavaliers, that is exactly what the outcome was as the game clock hit all zeros. But, not without drama as James had a chance to tie the game up with five seconds remaining – Pau Gasol had other plans blocking the shot and sending Bron to the floor. James ended with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Rose contributed 18 points and 5 assists.
The second game of the night was dedicated to the championship Warriors, highlighted by the ring ceremony complete with Drake’s “Trophies” ringing off in the background before the close knit group got into a live version of WATTBA “Big Rings”. It seems like the summer did nothing but bring them closer together, they haven’t lost a thing when it comes to on court chemistry. The game quickly turned into the Steph Curry show as he dropped off 22 points in the very first quarter, pulling up from 30+ feet leaving defenders frustrated play after play. Ending the night with 40 points and 7 assists to with it, Golden State steamrolled the Pelicans behind a tough night from Anthony Davis (4/20 from the field) 111-95.
