Little Simz Breaks Down "Is This Freedom?," Growing Up in London, Musical Influences & Crushes the 5 Fingers of Death!


Hailing from North London with co-signs from the likes of Yasiin Bey, Andre 3000, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar just to name a few, 21-year-old Little Simz is making quite a wave from the UK to the U.S.

Starting her path into music at the age of 9, Little Simz speaks on life growing up in London in a family with a very diverse set of skills.  With her latest project, “Age 101: Drop 4” out now, Simz breaks down the first track, “Is This Freedom?,” revealing that she is constantly on the search for freedom as well as understanding what it truly is.

We also hear Little Simz speak on racial disparity and how things differ from the U.S. to the UK, she reveals that the best way for her to process what’s going on around her is to write and make music about it.  Simz also breaks down her musical influences from UK artists that paved the way for her like Estelle and Dizzee Rascal to American talents like Lauryn Hill and Missy Elliot.
