From Destiny’s Child member to solo superstar to entrepreneur, Kelly Rowland is a very special and empowering woman who paved the way for many others to follow.
With her new BET show “Chasing Destiny” premiering tonight, April 5th, at 10:30/9:30CT on BET, Rowland joined the Sway in the Morning crew to speak on her new show and empowering women of all colors and ethnicities. Elaborating on the show, Rowland reveals that it does not have a reality show feel. Acting as both executive producer and host she praises the vision of BET’s Stephen Hill who was excited about the concept from the start.
Rowland’s excitement shines through as she explains that the show’s debut episode airs directly after “Black Girls Rock” rock. Stressing the importance of letting the younger generations know that they rock, Rowland says “passion is not for purchase,” a quote that stops Sway and the crew dead in their tracks.
Between Tweet worthy quotes about doing anything you set your mind to, Rowland opens up about her 17 month old son Titan and working herself back into shape until she felt good. Along with her new show Rowland also is rolling out a new cosmetics line. Teaming up with her personal makeup artist Sheika Daley who has also worked with Nicki Minaj, the duo plans to start with lashes and move forward from there.
Ending the show by taking calls from aspiring artists in the form of a mini audition for “Chasing Destiny,” Rowland gives some great advice to a young singer as she praises her drive.
