It’s been 32 years since the original Ghostbusters starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson hit the scene. Three decades later, writer and director Paul Freig decided to reboot the movie with an all female cast starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon.
Freig stopped by Sway in the Morning to discuss the backlash the movie has been getting. Because a lot of people are such fans of the original, many are looking at this as a remake, but Freig made this movie to make sure everyone had fun. He also says why can’t the new generation have their take on it? This movie lets a new generation of people have their say on a original classic.
Paul aka P. Freaky also talks about why Leslie Jones wasn’t casted as a scientist, how he controls being starstruck working with so many talented actors, the “male bashing” in the movie, and much more in the interview above. Ghostbusters will be in theaters this Friday (July 15)
