We first came across Memphis artist Jon Waltz last year shortly after the release of his EP “Alyss,” a vivid story of a misunderstood girl painted by thriving drums and spectacular wordplay.
We have followed Jon’s journey to his latest venture, “Anna,” after some time off to reflect and focus in on a very specific sound. Aiming at kids who were born in the 90’s and really focused in on music in the early 2000’s, Waltz told Hypetrak that this project stems from his love for artists like Justin Timberlake and Pharrell.
Releasing the title track today we can hear a progressive pop sound start to form. Produced by Brockhampton affiliate Romil, it’s easy to see that Jon and his well-educated camp have zero’d in on a new, refreshing style of music.
