Allan Kingdom has been taking the midwest by storm ever since he teamed up with Plain Pat and released “Future Memoirs” in 2014. Since then the St. Paul, MN, native has been building a very impressive resume that includes 2 Grammy nominations for his work on Kanye West’s “All Day” as well as putting out a project with the Minnesota collaborative group The Stand4rd.
Celebrating his 22nd birthday today (January 6) Kingdom has come forth with his first solo project since “Future Memoirs.” Staying true to his Minnesota roots with the title “Northern Lights,” you can hear Kanye’s influence in the first track as the hook rings out:
Ye told me drive slow but ain’t nobody say homie fly low// So i’m about to take you high as ever
With features from Chronixx, Jared Evan and D.R.A.M., “Northern Lights” is mainly produced by Kingdom himself alongside his frequent collaborator and Kanye’s former manager, Plain Pat. One thing stands true on this project that goes with any Allan Kingdom record, the sound is fresh, original and unlike any other. You can download the project via Allan Kingdom’s website and make sure to read our SU Spotlight feature HERE.
