From Big Sean to Wale to Kendrick Lamar to Drake, 2015 has been one crazy year for rap so far! Complete with surprise releases, dates being pushed back and rap music dominating the charts, there’s nothing that would really surprise us as far as album releases are concerned. With the second half of 2015 starting it’s full swing we figured we would list some of the most anticipated projects set to drop very soon!
Southpaw Soundtrack (Executive Produced by Eminem)
Expected release: July 24
Complete with tracks from Pryhme and Logic, Eminem, Slaughterhouse, 50 Cent, and Action Bronson and Joey Bada$$, the soundtrack to accompany the feature film “Southpaw” is shaping up to be one of the hottest collaborative drops of the year.
Gunplay – Living Legend
Expected release: July 31
With Meek Mill’s “Dreams Worth More Than Money” blowing up the charts, MMG is ready to unload (no pun intended) another album from their roster with Gunplay’s “Living Legend.” Features from this highly anticipated body of work include YG (“Wuzhanindoe”), Rick Ross (“Be Like Me”) and Yo Gotti (“Blood On The Dope”).
The Weeknd – Beauty Behind The Madness
Expected release: August 28
With mega-hits like “Often,” “The Hills,” and “Can’t Feel My Face” making huge, young Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd is on top of the R&B world right now (just ask R.Kelly). With a headlining Coachella set under his belt, The Weeknd is looking to top his 2013 offering “Kiss Land” which didn’t play out as well as his previous trio of mixtapes.
Travis Scott – Rodeo
Expected release: September 4
With one single under his belt, Travis Scott has finally unveiled the release date to his debut album “Rodeo.” Busy promoting his Future and 2 Chainz assisted single “3500,” Trav took to Twitter to announce the September 4 release. Teasing studio sessions with Mike Dean, Travis Scott is full of surprises (including harassing camera men).
Disclosure – Caracal
Expected release: September 25
Boasting with what could be argued as the most popular track of 2014 (released late 2013) in the Sam Smith assisted “Latch,” UK electronic duo Disclosure has their sights on success once more. Already teasing a feature from Sam Smith, “Caracal” is shaping up to be another mega success.
